Andrew Jackson Obituary

Andrew Jackson (Husband, Father, Papa, Great- GrandPapa, Brother, and Friend) was born January 22, 1941, in Jackson, Mississippi, to the late John Randall Jackson and Barbara Neil McDonald (Jackson). He eventually migrated to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended grade school through high school.

Mr. Andrew Jackson later went on to serve our country in the United States Air Force where he served four years. He would also meet his devoted wife and life long partner, Mamie D. Jackson, during his time of service in Great Lakes, Illinois. The couple married on July 1st, 1961, where they had three children together and remained married for fifty-three years. Mr. Jackson was a proud member of the Eastside High School Band Booster Club in the late 70’s, early 80’s. He was also successful in his mission to get natural gas lines in the Lincoln Estates Subdivision. Mr. Jackson started a petition and gathered the signatures to remove the propane tanks from homes in Lincoln Estates.

Mr. Jackson served as a chef in the dietary department at Shands Teaching Hospital for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Jackson’s Catering for several years before retiring. Mr Jackson was an active elections worker until March 2024 as a poll deputy. Mr. Jackson was a member of Mt. Pleasant UMC for many years, where he held many titles and served on several boards. He was a member of a number of choirs during his time with Mt. Pleasant. Andrew later became a member of Greater Bethel AME Church, where he was a current member until his transition. He was well known, loved, and respected by many for his years of service to the community.

Mr. Andrew Jackson transitioned from his earthly shell to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Shands Hospital at The University of Florida.
Andrew was preceded in death with his wife, Mamie D. Jackson, and parents, John Randall and Barbara Neil McDonald Jackson.
He was survived by: two daughters, Angela Caul (Kenneth) of Gainesville, FL, and Audrey Brown (James) Gainesville, FL; one son, Andrew E. Jackson (Sally) of Keystone Heights, FL; eleven grandchildren, Jalaini (Johnell), Tamara, Erika, Kaila, Nia, Brenden, Jasmin (D’Ernest), Mikaila, Alexa, Hayden, and Eden; and thirteen great-grands, Javien, Kamiyla, Jaiden, Austin, D’Ernest, Jr., Jaicion, La’Mya, Ray, Jr., Leland, Anthony II, Demi, Ava, and Jamir.
