Arbie McClendon was born on June 28, 1953, to Arbie McClendon, Sr. and Ruby Dean McClory. He was born in Bunnell, Florida. He served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976. Arbie later
moved to Gainesville, Florida. Arbie enjoyed working on everyone’s cars, fixing things, driving, spending time with his grands and great grands. He was one of the founders of The Dignity Project, which obtained and repaired vehicles for families in need.
Arbie accepted the Master’s call and entered his heavenly rest on May 19, 2026. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane McClendon; his parents, Arbie McClendon, Sr. and Ruby McClendon; one brother, Franklin McClendon, one sister, Ruth Bell Porter, and three sisters in law.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his sisters, Beulah Mae Johnson and Jimmy Dean Porter; brother, Charles McClendon; daughters, Shelia Hall, Iris Bailey (Richard), Audrea (Tarsh) Parker, and Sheanna Sands; two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends; and a special friend, Fannie Butler.
