Bernice Yvette Brown was born February 10, 1956, in Gainesville Fl, to the late Rutha Mae Davis and Dallas Owens. Bernice first introduced herself to society as a Licensed Beautician for over 20 years and a Nail Technician for 10 years. Later she went on to serve her time in the Healthcare Industries as a certified Phlebotomist, Surgical Supplies, and a Registered Nurse for the University of Florida.
Bernice also completed her Certification of Achievement at North Florida Theological Seminary. She then eventually went back to school to obtain her PHD in 2013. She grew up in Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Faith Tabernacle of Praise Ministries, Inc
Bernice went on to build a stronger foundation and excelled as an entrepreneur in the fields of the commercial, fashion, daycare, and janitorial industries. She wore many hats, while still maintaining profound relationships as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. It was her purpose to serve her community through providing meals, shelter, or helping anyone experiencing financial hardships. Bernice was and will always be a foundational branch within her family tree.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rutha Mae Davis and Dallas Owens; son, Emmitt Brown Jr.; sisters, Sheila Ann Bryant and Sylvia T. Patterson; sister-in-law, Dr. Bonnie Mitchell.
Bernice will be remembered in the hearts of: her husband, Emmitt Brown Sr.; son, Noel Ownes; daughters, Chante Young and Jennifer Brown-Mathews (Charles); sister, Shirley Owens; brothers, Dr. Larry D. Mitchell, James Owens, and Waymon Stephens; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
