Betty was born on April 30, 1934, in Daysville, (Gainesville), Florida to Rachael Days Elliott and Ike Elliott Sr. She was the youngest of five children. She lived a life rooted in love, faith and community at the center of her heart.
She was united in marriage to the late Gilbert Wallace, lovingly known as “Sunny Boy.” Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family values that continue to live on through their children and grandchildren. Betty was blessed with five children, Maude E. Wallace Tucker of Newberry, Florida, Terry Lee Wallace (Sharon), Alachua, Florida and Oltha Lee Wallace (Nicole) Gainesville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gilbert, son Dewitt Miller, daughter Norma Bradley Howell, and her cherished sister Bernice Willimas.
From her five children flourished into three generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren totaling over 125. This legacy reflects the love, wisdom, and values she instilled in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Betty was known for her unwavering faith, her generosity of spirit, and the joy she bought to every gathering be it churning home made ice cream in the back yard or filling with washtub with apples for the neighborhood kids to bob for apples. She delighted in music, gardening, cooking, word search, singing and spending time with her family. She undoubtedly created memories that her family will treasure for years to come.
On August 12. 2025 she peacefully entered eternal rest with her family at her side. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy not measured only in numbers, but in the countless hearts she nurtured, and the love she gave freely.
