Calvin Arkell Brasby Jr.’s journey began on December 5, 2003, and though he departed on March 17, 2024, his impact continues to resonate. As a graduate of Eastside High School, Calvin approached his education with dedication, leaving a lasting impression on teachers and classmates alike. His presence was a source of joy and laughter, illustrating his vibrant personality and genuine nature.
He found enjoyment in playing basketball and had a passion for music, where he was able to demonstrate his creative rapping skills. Calvin was also the family comedian. Calvin held a special place as the First-born son of Calvin Brasby Sr. (Ornella), and Kimberly Taylor, as well as his siblings: Jada Peterson, Olivia Brasby, Arkell Brasby, Malik Brasby, and Jayceon Reese, and was a beloved grandson.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Theodore R. Brasby, maternal great grandfather James Albert Taylor Sr., maternal great-grandfather, Walker Lee Rollins, maternal great-great grandmother, Willie Mae Bell, Paternal great-great grandmother, Mae Edwards, and his cousin, Marcus M. Wilson. Their memories, along with Calvin's, will be cherished and honored.
He was deeply loved by his extended family, including his maternal grandmother, Ursula Davis, and paternal grandmother Betty Brasby. He was also cherished by his maternal great grandmother, Priscilla Taylor, and maternal great-great-grandfather, Ham Bryant. Calvin was loved by his auntie Theresa Brasby-Gaither (Pastor Alvin Gaither), uncles Curtis Rollins (Ando), Michael Smith (Latoya), Vincent Brasby (Lydia) and 13 great-aunts, 10 great uncles, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and loving friends. Though Calvin's departure leaves a void, his memory remains a treasure, filled with love, kindness, and joy. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the hearts and memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he find eternal peace, knowing he made a profound impact on those whose lives he touched.
