Charles Manuel "Manny" Gonzales, age 84, of Gainesvile, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Manuel was born in Tampa, Florida, on November 14, 1941. Manuel was a husband, father, grandfather, and a builder. He spent many years working for the Copeland Sausage Company in Alachua, Florida, and was a skilled self-employed builder, known for his hard work and perseverance.
Manuel had a zest for life—he loved water skiing, dancing, and anything adventurous. He always had a project underway, building anything from swimming pools to houses. The man was always building, tinkering, or making something. His hobbies brought him great joy. He loved his family and friends, and his way of showing that love was through his actions. He would give anyone the shirt oft his back and help if you ever needed a bathroom remodeled or a roof patched. Whether helping a neighbor or lending a hand, Manuel left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His willingness to help others and his joy for life will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife with whom he spent 27 years, Meredith "Meme" Gonzales; four children to whom he was a proud father, Teresa, Ty, Trisha, and Chip; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren through whom his legacy lives on; and two sisters, Betty R. Morgan and Joanna Lewis.
Manuel found comfort in the words of Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd," which was a prayer he held close.
