Charlie Bradley Jr., born on August 28, 1954, in Gainesville, Florida, was the eldest son of the late Charlie Bradley Sr. and Castella L. Bradley. He received his education in Alachua County Public Schools and was a graduate of Gainesville High School Class of 1972 in Gainesville, Florida.
On May 25, 2024, Charlie passed away peacefully at Shands, under the care of Community Hospice of Gainesville, with his family by his side.
Charlie was a devoted husband and father, married to Carvondella Bradley for 32 years. He began his career with the Alachua County School Board as a bus driver, then served as a Regional Transit System (RTS) bus driver, and eventually retired as a long-haul semi-truck driver.
A man of faith, Charlie accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong Baptist. He initially joined Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church; later transferring his membership to Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained an active member until his health prevented him from attending.
Charlie had a passion for golfing and loved his Kawasaki 1000 motorcycle, cherishing the time spent with his motorcycle brothers. Above all, he was a family man, finding joy in making homemade churned ice cream for his family. Seeing the smiles on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's faces, even during his most challenging moments, brought him great happiness.
Charlie Bradley Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Castella Bradley, his son Charlie Bradley III, and his brother-in-law, Lannie Graham Sr. He leaves behind cherished memories with his devoted wife, Carvondella Bradley of Gainesville, Florida, and his family: two sons, Rodrick Bradley Sr. and Tevin Bradley Sr., both of Gainesville, FL; two special nephews whom he raised as his sons, Giorgio Bradley of Gainesville, FL and JaQone Bradley of Atlanta, Georgia; and a special grandson whom he raised and legally adopted, Malachi Bradley of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by four daughters: Chandra Hampton (Karjuan), Keosha Burke, Misty Atkins, and Ashley Carter (Andrew), all of Gainesville, FL. Charlie had 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Bradley Henry of Rochester, New York; Deloris Ann Bradley Ezell of Louisville, Kentucky; Sheila Bradley Fair (Tony) of Syracuse, New York; Patricia Bradley McNair of Gainesville, Florida; and Cynthia Bradley Graham of Land O' Lakes, Florida; his brother, Elder Victor Bradley Sr. (Brenda) of Gainesville, Florida; sisters-in-law, Larhonda Williams (Bo), Joyce Nieves, and Beatrice Wells; brother-in-law, Gregory Burke, all of Palatka, Florida; and his Aunt, Emma Bradley of Gainesville, FL. , Uncle, Albert Wilder of Rochester, New York. Additionally, he is remembered by his long-time special and devoted friend, Gomez Cook Sr., whom he loved as a brother, along with many devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlie's legacy of love, devotion, and joy will be forever cherished by his family and friends.
