Cornelius Briddell Obituary

Cornelius "Neil" Alan Briddell, son of the late Francis W. Briddell and the late Martha E. Briddell was born in Salisbury, MD. He was educated in the public schools of Worcester County Maryland and a member of Pulletts United Methodist Church in Whaleyville, MD. Neil began working in the industrial field with Perdue Foods, then in construction, iron and steel works, sandblasting, and painting which led him to contribute to painting in the White House and the building of the Washington Convention Center as well as the Baltimore Orioles baseball stadium. In his latter years, he worked his dream job as a custodian cleaning in the house of the Lord at Trinity United Methodist Church and, lastly, Abiding Faith Christian Church.

His quick wit and dry sense of humor almost always left us laughing and shaking our heads saying, "That man is so crazy!" But even ni some of his craziest jokes, he would often make us stop to think about some truth in them. Favorite pastimes were walking in the woods and carving beautiful walking sticks. He became a good listener and friend who loved helping people. One of his favorite things to say was "I do what I can, when I can, for whomever I can." Other favorite sayings were Yeah, yeah, yeah!, Did you pray about it? and Just take one day at a time.

Neil was also preceded in death by brother, Francis Gilbert Briddell; sisters, Valeria Briddell-Burns and Geneva Mae Briddell. He will be lovingly remembered by wife, Alicia Briddell; daughters, Corshawn Showell and Akilah Brown; son, Tyree Showell Sr; sister, Wanda Williams (James) of Fort Washington, MD; and brother, Gregory Briddell of Whaleyville, MD; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
