A Time to Be Born: David Lee Mills, Sr., was born or September 28, 1956, in Gainesville, Florida, to the late David Mills and Maude Lewis Mills.
A Time to Learn: David received his formal education in the Putnam County School System, graduating from Interlachen High School in 1974.
A Time to Serve: During his honorable service in the United States Army, he earned the Army Service Ribbon and qualified as an expert with the Ml6 rifle, receiving the Expert Marksmanship Qualification badge. He proudly served as a telecommunications center operator And received Honorable Discharge in 1982. Following his military service, through the years, David continued a life of service to others. He has worked in multiple capacities as a teacher at Miracle Deliverance Center in Hawthorne, Florida, Passage Christian Academy in an art teacher at Gainesville, Florida, licensed insurance agent, and a skilled carpenter whos raftsmanship and dedication touched the lives of man local families.
A Time to Depart: On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, David departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest.
A Time to Cherish his Memory: David leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughters, Cierra Mills of Statesboro, Georgia, and Amarria Mills (Erick) of Gainesville, Florida; sons, David Mills, Jr., of Hawthorne Florida, and Gerald Jones of Tennessee; and five beloved grandchildren, Myles Freeny, Micah Mercer, Malcolm Mercer, Angelica Jones, and Jacobi Jones.
He also leaves three sisters: Daisy Wiley of Macon, Georgia, Marian Mills of Melrose, Florida, and Voncille Baker (Wilfred) of Gainesville, Florida; one brother, Darren Mills of Melrose, Florida; uncle, Robert Lewis (Diane) of Gainesville, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
David will be remembered for his quiet strength, his servant's heart, and his unwavering willingness to help others. His legacy lives on through the many lives ho touched, the family he loved, and the example of faith, service and hard work that he leaves behind.
