Mr. Drew Lenward Hopkins, known to his loved ones as “Drew”, passed away on November 27, 2023, at the age of 89, in Earleton, FL. Drew was born on September 30, 1934, in Meeks, GA, to Dalton Lenward Hopkins and Dava Lee Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and son, J.L. Hopkins.
Drew was a wise, congenial, and hard-working man, devoted to his family and to living out his Christian faith. He is survived by his children: five sons, Drew L. Hopkins “Buddy” (Margie) and his son, Drew L. Hopkins Jr (Len) and his daughter and son, David L. Hopkins (Tina) and their daughter and son, William L Hopkins and his daughter and two sons, Judy L. Borders (kim) and their two sons, and his stepson Paul Newman. His cherished companion of 15 years, Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan. Tesh, His beloved pet, who he loved to the moon.
Drew served in the United States navy from 1950-1959. Where he dedicated his skills and knowledge to serving his country. After his time in the US Navy, Drew worked at Cape Kennedy (NASA) from 1964-1969, and at General Electric from 1970-1978.
Drew found solace and strength in his faith and regularly attended Orange Heights Baptist church of Hawthorne, FL. His voice could be heard singing praise to the Lord. He loved god, His family, his church, and his church family. He enjoyed the time of fellowship with Wednesday Night Dinners and Sunday Morning Services.
Outside of his professional life, Drew had a passion for fishing! He fished for sport for most of his life.
Drew will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His wisdom, congenitally, and devotion to family and faith will forever be cherished.
