Emmitt Brown Obituary

Emmitt Ulysses Brown Sr. Was born July 16th, 1951, in Hawthorne, Fl, to his parents the late Dorothy Lee Brown and Sylvester Brown.

He was educated in the Alachua County Public School System, he attended Lincoln High School. Emmitt later made his way to contribute 20+ years of service with the University of Florida, where he thrived successfully and received recognition and value throughout his career. After he achieved his retirement milestone, Emmitt did not stop there, he went on to contribute an additional 16 years with Miller Janitorial Services.

Emmitt provided so much value to his community as a man of respect, resource, and wisdom. Devoted to helping others when he could. He worked on cars in his down time. Brown had a huge sense of humor, he loved laughing, joking, and he most definitely was a "die hard" Florida Gator Fan! He enjoyed watching wrestling and had a passion for motorcycles. Most importantly, Emmitt was a dedicated family man who loved and cherished his wife for over 30 years, Bernice Brown. He was committed to loving his children and grandchildren. Experiencing the pleasure of loving and knowing Emmitt was a true gift from the Lord.

Psalms 37:23 says " The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord : and he delighteth in his way".  A good man does not allow himself to be led by circumstances, other people or even his own feelings. He allows The Most High the Creator of all things to be in control of his life. So, let us all give thanks and rejoice that we have had the privilege to say we knew and loved Emmitt Brown "A Good Man".

He was preceded in death by wife, Bernice Yvette Brown and children, Emmitt Brown, Jr. and Tiki Brown.

Emmitt was called home on April 15, 2024.

He will be missed by his only surviving sisters, Willie Mae Brown and Rosa Lee Butler; and his only surviving child, Jennifer Brown-Mathews; stepdaughter, Chante Young; stepson, Noel Owens; three grandchildren, Ja'Quan, Braxton and Ce’Renity; nine step grandchildren, and eight great grands; and a host of nieces and nephews.
