Horace Garrison Obituary

Deacon Horace Garrison was born on July 30, 1947, to the late Hollis and Bernice Garrison. Horace gave his life to Christ and served as a faithful Head Deacon at St. Matthew Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from A.L. Mebane in 1966. After 30 years of service, he retired from Shands Teaching Hospital.

Horace was joined in holy matrimony for 34 years to Gwendolyn Lynch Garrison who affectionately called him "Charlie Skeet" and to this union they shared five children.

He departed this life peacefully on March 1, 2024 at Haven E.T. York Hospice Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Bernice Garrison; sisters, Mary Louise Garrison, Martha Collins, and Dorothy Watson; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are: his wife, Gwendolyn Lynch Garrison; five children, Anissa Sheppard, Tiffany Garrison-Holden(Ronald), Edward Garrison, Latheria Garrison, and Denzel Garrison Demise; siblings, Bobby Garrison (Helen), Willie Garrison (Patricia), Leonard Garrison, James Garrison, Norman Garrison(Lisa), Ronnie Garrison, Gloria Sanford, Ruby James, Pricilla Garrison, Olivia Dimingo-God sister; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
