Ishmael Rashad Durr Sr., was born in Gainesville, FL. He attended Alachua County Public Schools and played football in his early years at Northwest Boys Club where he fell in love with the sport. Ishmael went on to play football for Gainesville High School then later coached little league football for GTM where he also enjoyed watching his son play.
Ishmael was a loving son, father, and brother to many, always helping anyone that needed him. Ishmael was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. He fought hard through many hospital stays, several medical trials, chemo and radiation therapy while remaining positive with hopes of going into remission. Unfortunately, that did not happen. On Thursday, September 15th, Ishmael passed away peacefully at home, comfortably surrounded by loving family and friends.
Ishmael was proceeded in death by his grandmother, the late Willie Bell Littles.
Ishmael leaves memories to live in the hearts of: his loving mother, Christina Holmes (Hayward) and father, Ronnie Durr Sr. (Zina); grandmother, Emma “EJ” Brown (Joseph); sons, Ishmael Durr Jr. & Isaiah Durr; stepsons, Maurice Green & Jayson Martin; mother of his children, Nyviera Green; brothers, Christopher Durr, Rondre Durr, Ronald Durr, Emanuel Durr Sr., & Hakim Sutton; sisters, Ronika Durr, Sharika Robinson; nephews, Emmanuel Durr Sr., Devon Durr, Dontavious Thomas, & Dorian Ryles; nieces, Emari Durr, Nitika Durr, & Kaciona Durr and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
