Joanne Carter was born on October 4, 1949, to the union of Calvin and Mattie Cave Debose in the Community of Hague. She was a member of Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She attended A. L. Mebane High School and retired from Shands at UF.
On Friday, November 3, 2023, the almighty Lord picked one of his best flowers.
Joanne was preceded in death by her son, Troy Carter; ex husband, Amos Carter; and godson, Ricky Nixon. Those who will miss her most and cherish her precious memories: her son, Carlous Bartee (Trashonda) of Ft.White, Florida; special sons, Bernard Bradshaw, Jr., Eric Carter, Maurice McCloud, Cedirc Walker, Sidney Barton, and Louis Lee; daughters, including devoted daughter and son-in-law, Carol Griffin (Leonard) of Gainesville,FL, Kayla Carter, and Cornelia Johnson of Gainesville, FL; brother, James Henderson (Sharon) of Gainesville, FL; daughter-in-law, Tenesha Welch-Carter;
special brothers, Virgil Banks and Leonard Cave of Gainesville, FL; sisters, Belvaline Henderson, Bonnie Henderson, and Theresa Henderson, all of Gainesville, FL; goddaughter, Formeka John; godson, Reshard Jordan; childhood blood sisters, Cassie Forest, Marie Forest, Minnie Bartee, and Glen Cave; godbrother, Porter Peterson (Reatha) of Gainesville, FL; special family whom she loved, the Carters, Cynthia (Carl), Wanda, Theretha, Linda, Alfreda, Ronnie (Patricia), and Joe; and a host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
