Jocquez “Joc” White of Gainesville, Florida passed away on Friday, November 24th, 2023, after a misfortunate turn of events. Jocquez P. White was born on August 22nd, 1997, in Gainesville, Fl to Danielle Louks (Gainesville, Fl) and James White (Lake City, Fl). After Jocquez graduated from Eastside High School, he went to college on an Academic and Wrestling Scholarship. Jocquez had ambitions to become an Orthodontist and join the field of Dentistry.
Upon returning from college, Jocquez began working in the fast-food industry. There was an unfortunate incident with his brother Lavardrick Harrell where he was shot and admitted into
the hospital. Jocquez turned to the streets out of anger and hurt. Jocquez loved his siblings, Lavardrick and sister Cherish Bing, they were his life. His brother was indeed his best friend.
Jocquez later decided that it was time for him to get his life back on track. He was hired at Perry Roofing Contractors, where Mr. Keith Perry supported his dream of advancing and bettering himself.
Jocquez pursued many advancement opportunities and recently was so proud and excited that he had graduated early from his class and received a certificate for his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and was moving up within the organization.
Three years ago, Jocquez joined the St. Matthew Baptist Church of Alachua, Fl, and gave his life to Christ. It became his mission to be used as a vehicle to bring his friends to Christ. He served as a trusted Adjutant to The Apostle Dr. Adrian S. Weeks throughout his tenure in the Ministry. Jocquez was a light to all, as he was always full of smiles, and he encouraged everyone he encountered.
It was his true mission to unite the community and bridge the gap between generations. Jocquez lived by the “loyalty” code. Jocquez loved his family, friends, and church family. He had a special affection for a young man, Dante Williams, who admirably looked up to him. He had every desire to see the youth supported and it was his goal to start a mentoring program where he could share his story of change. Jocquez had a couple of sets of Godparents who adored him and encouraged him in his dream to succeed. He was such a respectful young man who was driven by his own desire to achieve greatness.
He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Danielle Louks; father, James White; brothers, Lavardrick Harrell (Eyona Taylor), Shawn Blair, and Tyler Blair; sister, Cherish Bing; nephews, Legend Harrell and King Harrell; paternal grandmother, Angela White; paternal grandfather, James White; maternal grandmother, Denise Pouliot-Hambrick; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.
