Lavern Sheppard, Sr. Obituary

Lavern Sheppard, Sr., was born on January 13, 1952, to Alice and Charlie Sheppard in Ft. White, Florida. Lavern was the second youngest of twelve siblings. Lavern was reared in Fort White, Florida, where he graduated with the class of 1970 from Columbia High School and later met his wife, Brenda. Lavern began working for Lamson & Session in High Springs, Florida, as an electrician and a lead mechanic, which was where he retired after 41 dedicated years. Lavern was loved and well-respected by family members and many friends he touched during his lifetime. Lavern was looked at as a father figure in his neighborhood and a stand-up type of person who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lavern enjoyed most of all spending time with his family, telling jokes and stories about his childhood of growing up on a farm, getting into mischief with his brothers, and cooking. Lavern was best known for his barbecue and the love that gathering at the dinner table brought. Lavern considered his front door open to anyone needing a meal or a place to lay their head. Lavern enjoyed drag racing as a young man, fishing, and being a handyman in endless areas. Lavern’s good looks, charm, and sense of humor won him the “Most Handsome Gentleman of Class 1970.” Lamson & Session awarded him an honorable mention and employee of the year several times thanks to his belief in hard work and the need for timelines. As a Christian, Lavern believed God was his shepherd, and there will be a place for him at God’s table. On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Lavern Sheppard Sr., was called home to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father. Lavern is survived by: his wife, Brenda Sheppard of 50 years; three children, oldest daughter, Lakasha Sheppard-White (RaynardWhite), youngest daughter, Daniellies Sheppard-Mitchell (Ronald Mitchell, Jr.), and son, Lavern, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Isaac Hayes, Jr., Daila Johnson, Raylynn White, DeniumMitchell, Ryley Mitchell, Legend White, Daron Mitchell, and Nash Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends. Lavern’s Favorite Bible Verse “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anoints my head with oil; my cup runnethover. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
