Marie Ginette Saint-Surin was born on March 30, 1959, in Cap Haitian, Haiti, to parents,Wilmond Saint-Surin and Elvie Bastien. The second of four children, she absolutely loved her sisters, the triplets who cannot go a day without speaking to each other. In 1984, Marie Ginette embarked on a new chapter in Miami, Florida, where her and Jean Claude Philemy welcomed three beautiful children into this world: Francesca, Darryl, and Sabine Philemy, whom she adored more than anything in this world. Her children’s presence and voices would light up her day, especially when it came to her only son, Darryl. She had such a special bond with all of her
children.
Affectionately called “Ginette,” she was always the life of the party. She loved being surrounded by her family. Ginette came from humble beginnings but was rich in ways that cannot be measured by material possessions. She always found a reason to throw a party so the family could be together. Ginette’s love for humanity was shone through her faith and acts of kindness, making her special and unique in countless ways and our joy in the time of sorrow.
Living life to the fullest, she always prioritized her family. Despite facing numerous health challenges, Marie Ginette never gave up, embodying the spirit of resilience. On January 25, 2024, Marie Ginette peacefully transitioned from this world in Gainesville, Florida, drifting to the pearly gates of heaven. Her journey, though challenging, was filled with love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Marie Ginette leaves behind a void that only time and heaven can heal. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Francesca, Darryl, and Sabine Philemy; siblings, Marie Lourdes Bien-Aime (Jean Rene Bien-Aime), Marie Gislaine Saint-Surin, and Wilner Saint-Surin; stepfather, Joel Bastien; nieces and nephews, Nadine Henderson (Christopher Henderson), Jean Renaud Bien-Aime, Faisa Pierre (Rolp Pierre), and Wilmond Junior Saint-Surin; caregiver, Jackie West; and a host of other family and friends.
Marie Ginette has now returned to her heavenly father, reuniting with her parents, Elvie and Wilmond, who will continue to watch over us from above. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
