On Friday, December 1, 2023, Melva M. Hubbard entered into eternal rest. She was born October 9, 1952, to the late Maxine and Cleveland Johnson in Palatka, Florida. She was raised in the church and attended Johnson Community Church with her children. She was a member of Lighthouse Global Ministries in Waldo, Florida.
Mrs. Hubbard was educated in the Putnam County School System. She was an alumni of Florida A&M University. After returning, she worked as a traveling CNA in Alachua and Putnam County. She went on to work for the State of Florida and eventually retired from Tacachale in Gainesville, Florida.
Mrs. Hubbard enjoyed going to church, listening to Gospel music, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Maxine and Cleveland Johnson; son, Damian McPhadden, Sr.; brother, Cleveland Johnson, Jr.; and sisters,
Gertrude Johnson and Harriet Gordon.
Mrs. Hubbard leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters and two sons, Brian McPhadden, Sr. (Shalonda), Danielle McPhadden, Dantira McPhadden, Bethany Lewis (Elijah), and Daniel McPhadden (Alicia); daughter-in-love, Edrika McPhadden; sisters, Deborah McGruder (Willie-Mack) and Mary Johnson; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
