Rosada King was born to Charles and Susan Olita Forbes Samuels on June 22,1930 in the Turks and Caicos Island.
She was the only child of that union, but she grew up around lots of love and family and friends. Rosada was remarkably closewith her first cousin, Maglin Hall-Hamilton, who was also her best friend. Where you saw one, you saw the other. They attend school together and love to sing spiritual songs together.
Rosada met David King and they were married in 1950 in Pine Ridge in Grand Bahama. That union produced 9 children, 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grand. She was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was an entrepreneur that sold food to workers to help support her family, she was an excellent seamstress and excellent cook, and she could bake some good treats.
Rosada moved with her family to Miami Florida in the early 70’s. She never let moving to a new country stop her from becoming a skilled dress and pattering maker. She went to Lindsay Hospkins School of Trade and was trained in how to become a professional in dress and suit patterns. Rosada ran many different businesses between Miami and the Bahamas where she sold clothes and different things. Rosada was also a skillful hat maker, she could turn any dull-looking hat into a masterpiece. She also owned a shop in the Opa-Locka Flea Market. Anytime you would visit her home she always had a sewing machine going.
Rosada was well-loved in her community and amongst friends and family. Once you meet her as a friend you are left feeling like family. She was the type of mother, grandmother, and friend that would give you good solid advice and always encouraged you to reach to the top, but she will always let you know when you mess up, and let us not forget her funny sayings and her comeback were always on point; you had to laugh and “say did you really say that”. She taught us to always keep God first and pray always. She had so many bible verses that she would recite.
Rosada was preceded in death by her parents, Lilith Harvey (cousin) Lewis Forbes(cousin) daughter-in-law Daisy, and grandsons, Ashleigh, Otis-Mark, and Dave King. granddaughters Sarah & Grace, great-granddaughter, Jasmine, and a host of other family members and friends.
She fought the good fight. Rosada King was called home on Sunday August 21, 2022, in Trenton Florida. In Psalm 91, God spoke long life and salvation over David. God has blessed Rosada with 92 years of grace, mercy, and love she now is resting with Him and that place of glory. Rosada’s undying faith, love, dedication to family, and willingness to serve will live in the hearts of those who know her.
