Rosemary Denise Mathis Coney, who was born on September 25, 1964, and passed away on November 10, 2023, at 59.
In 1985, Rosemary met her beloved partner, James Coney, and on September 25, 2013, James officially changed her name to Rosemary Denise Mathis Coney. Unfortunately, James was called home on May 26, 2020. May they find eternal rest together in heaven.
Rosemary was not only a cherished family member and friend but also a dedicated colleague who profoundly impacted the lives of those around her. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Barbara and M.C. Mathis, Rosemary grew up in Royal Palm and Fort Lauderdale. She attended Dillard High School and pursued a successful career in nursing.
Throughout her life, Rosemary was known for her warm and protective nature towards her loved ones. She found joy in starting her mornings with coffee and engaging in conversations with her family and friends. She was passionate about collecting pictures of her loved ones and proudly displayed them throughout her home, always seeking the perfect frames to showcase them. Rosemary was also recognized for her diligent work ethic, spending her final days as a respected manager at Bojangles in Gainesville, Florida, where she was adored by her colleagues and patrons.
Rosemary will be remembered for her spirited sense of humor, kindness, generosity, and the positive impact she had on the lives of others. She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her children: Demetrius Mathis (Deceased), Damon (Robyn) Mathis, Crystal (Jermaine) Jackson-Stennette, Barbara ''Candice'' Jackson, and Janette Coney. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren: Creshae McCloud, Damon Mathis Jr., Demetrius Mathis Jr., Isiah Williams, Deon Mathis, Antwone Mathis, Damara Mathis, Isiah Mathis, Avia Gonzales, Madison Jackson, Darrnell Mathis. Joshua Robinson Great-grandchildren. Kamari Mathis and Alaya Mathis, held a special place in her heart, Rosemary is also survived by her siblings. Sisters: Emma Mathis Mcmillan, Janie Mathis, Barbara n. Mathis, Vera Parker Michael Mathis as well as her brothers Frank Mathis(passed), Larry Mathis(passed), James Mathis, Mike Mathis and John Mathis
Rosemary had a close-knit extended family, with cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew and loved her.
