Mr. Sammie Lee Brown was born to the late Johnell Brown and Elizer Brown on February 9, 1941, in Shellman, Georgia. He moved to Hague, Florida at the age 12 years old, where he also attended school. Mr. Brown was employed at the Alachua County School Board as a Bus Driver for 26 years. He retired in 2006. He was known as “Mr. B” by all the kids he drove. He was a helper to others, loved by many, and loved to fish.

He fell in love with and enchanted the heart of “Verne” for 50 years, which brought love, happiness, adventure, and delight into her life.
Mr. Brown took his wings and went on to be with the Lord on November 25, 2023 at Haven Hospice.
His legacy will forever live in the hearts of: son, Sammie Lee Brown, Jr. (LaTonya) of Gainesville, Florida; companion of 50 years, Leverne Barbour of Gainesville, Florida, including three dedicated daughters; Sandra Bryd, Kimberly Wesley (Tim), Tonya Sherman (Kenneth -deceased) of Gainesville Florida; two special grandchildren, Samura Brown of Acworth, Georgia and Sammie Samaud Lee Brown III of Gainesville, Florida; two sisters, Anna Jean Small and Brenda McAllister of Gainesville, Florida (who preceded him in death); brothers-in-law, Windred McCallister and Felix Small Sr; two special nieces, Patricia Small-Wilson, Margaret Johnson of Gainesville, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
